Consultation and Diagnosis
The initial finding of a tumor is the beginning of a unique journey where close interaction between the patient and the oncology team will give the best possible results.
The initial consultation will inform the oncologist of your medical history and the medical evidence for your preliminary diagnosis. If this not sufficient to arrive at an effective plan of care, the oncologist may request a series of additional tests to be carried out immediately in order to accurately determine your exact condition. These tests will lead to the correct staging and will aid in the design of an optimum treatment plan. The tests cover a wide range of medical technologies from blood tests to additional medical imaging, endoscopies and biopsies. They may even include genetic testing.
Members of our team such as associate physicians, nurse navigator and the patient advocate will support patients against worries and uncertainties by assisting them in planning these additional tests and coordinating with the patient and his loved ones the different steps leading to the next appointment. This helps speeding up the arrival to a definitive diagnosis and the start of treatment if necessary.
